Would you like to be able to explore and work with the relationship between the body and the mind more consciously in your CST practice? Would you like to be more confident in your ability to work with the innate inner intelligence of the body? Join us for this new three-day class presented by Sheryl McGavin, OTL, CSTA-CP-I, sponsored by the CST Alliance.
What is Psychoneuroimmunology?
Psychoneuroimmunology (PNI) is the study of the interaction of behavioral, neural, and endocrine factors and the functioning of the immune system. When practicing craniosacral therapy -- and in particular the somatoemotional aspects of CST -- we have a unique opportunity to work with this interaction between the body and the mind in an integrated and holistic way--by listening to the body as well as the mind. When working with the immune system, the neurological system, and the endocrine system, we are working directly with the core communication and regulatory systems of the body.
Topics include:
In this class we will learn how the immune, neurological and endocrine systems work and interact with each other at all levels, from cellular to emotional. We will further develop our palpation and listening skills--and through listening--we will be able to discover dysfunctions within and between these different systems and use gentle touch and dialogue to support and assist the client to greater health and function.
The class will be taught using lecture with written material and visual aids, demonstration, and supervised practice of palpation and techniques related to course material. Examples of clients who can benefit from information learned in this class include, but are not limited to, those with chronic pain or inflammatory conditions, chronic fatigue, immune system issues such as allergies or autoimmunity, anxiety and depression.
Learning Objectives:
Determine when and how to use dialogue to support the client during the treatment process.
Integrate learned palpation and treatment skills into a craniosacral therapy treatment session or program.
